Common Questions About Our Boarding Service

u

How Many Dogs Can You Board?

We know our limitations, and we can only accept one or two small/medium size dogs AND where it is two they must be from the same family/setting. We only accept one puppy (upto 12/14 months) at a time, as puppies take extra time and effort to care for correctly – we don’t charge extra for puppies.

u

Will Dog Boarding suit my Dog?

Dog Boarding suits most dogs, however, as with all things – it may be a better fit for some more than others. In our experience, it fits dogs who enjoy their home comforts, love to be around people (as well as other animals, we have a Westie) and love attention. If that isn’t your dog, then perhaps dog boarding isn’t for your pup.

However, if your dog fits this criteria, we’re probably well suited to you and your dog. The other things we ask for include:

  • Being House trained
  • Being neutered/spayed
  • Females not in season
  • Up to date with vaccinations (including kennel cough)
  • Up to date with flea and worming treatment (using products recommended by the vet)
  • Friendly and sociable with people and other dogs.

Note. If your dog causes significant damage to any part of our household (including chewing) you may be asked to foot the bill for repair or replacement.

u

What type of dogs do you care for?

We are insured to care for Small and Medium size dogs, this means dogs from 0 to 15kg. We can also board puppies too. As an example of dogs we board and care for this includes Westies, Schnauzers, Jack Russells, Bichon Frise, Yorkies and Cairn Terriers.

Note: If we feel your dog type doesn’t fit well or we aren’t covered by insurance, we may cancel and refund you.

u

Will you keep us updated during our dog's stay?

Absolutely!

We ask for your mobile number when you make your booking, and confirm this again during ‘dog  registration’; this allows us to send Photos, Videos and various updates via WhatsApp during your dog(s) stay with us – whether it is overnight or for a period of days.

We do this as part of a normal boarding service, you do not need to pay extra for this (as some services may ask), and we see this as a way of ensure you feeling as comfortable as your dog whilst they are with us. If at any point during the stay you’d like us to hold off sending messages (perhaps you’re at a work event or family wedding), we can hold messages until later – or until you pick up your pup.

u

Do you board only neutered dogs?

Yes, we strictly only board neutered dogs and females NOT in season.

u

My dog is a barker, can they board?

We don’t have a huge set of rules around barking unlike many boarding establishments – we live in a dog friendly neighbourhood with many puppies and dogs. The conversations over the fences at night are quite friendly between them all, never mind when they meet in the street. Our Westie is a rescue and if she finds an excuse, she will bark – that includes seeing Monty Don on TV … we suspect she knows the sound of his voice and assocites it with seeing the dogs.

So yes, but please let us know how barky they are, and any triggers.

u

What does my dog need to bring?

We ask that you bring enough food (wet and dry), along with their food and water bowl for their boarding. We also ask you bring their bed, some toys and if they have one a harness for the car (we know not all dogs do this is fine). Finally, if they’ve any special treats – we know not all dogs like all treats – then bring those too. (Obviously bring your dog on a lead… we need the lead)
